Tajana Sertić

My father started the tailoring business “taja” in 1972, and from a young age, I was surrounded by rags, colors, threads, and fabrics. That’s how I fell in love with fashion and continued the family tradition. My father did influence my love of fashion, but regardless, I always felt that I could express myself through art. I graduated from the Art Academy in Florence because painting was close to my heart. However, fashion remained my first love. I combined both – in some collections, you will see my uniquely painted t-shirts.

I am faithful to my recognizable style – asymmetrical, sculptural cuts and colorful prints, and natural materials. I often draw inspiration from my travels and magical nature – grass, trees, leaves, insects, mostly bees, and animals… My work is also influenced by painters, such as Croatian theater set designer Eda Murtić or Dutch-American abstract expressionist Willem de Kooning.

My collections are reflected in colorful prints on viscose, hand knitting on linen and cotton, and casual cuts that add a note of sensuality and urban classics. For winter coats, I use merino wool, which is very light and very warm. My clothes are intended for women who, with today’s fast pace of life, want to look businesslike and relaxed at the same time.

I want to embody the vision of the symbiosis of man and nature. All fabrics for unique clothing and fashion accessories are completely natural, carefully selected, and hand-processed. The uniqueness of the interior is emphasized through diverse details that nature has left over time. I create under the maxim that nature should not be beautified, but we should rather respect its beautiful expression and form.
